Abstract

Chondrosarcoma is a malignant neoplasm of infiltrative and aggressive character, of primary cartilaginous origin, characterized by the proliferation of chondroid cells and cartilaginous matrix. The clinical signs and radiological findings may be similar to those presented in osteosarcoma. Macroscopically, it presents a lobulated tumor with bluish-white or yellowish-white areas. The prognosis and treatment depend on the evolution time of the neoplasm. The present study reports a case of chondrosarcoma in the scapula of a canine, treated at the Veterinary Hospital Dr. Vicente Borelli from the Centro Universitário Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos (Unifeob), in São João da Boa Vista, SP, Brazil.
