Mycoplasmosis in Nymphicus hollandicus: case report

Abstract

A case of mycoplasmosis by Mycoplasma spp in a two-year-old Nymphicus hollandicus is described. The bird had progressive weight loss, hyporexia, regurgitation, dehydration, hypothermia and diarrhea. The diagnosis was obtained through PCR. The treatment was carried out with clinical support and antibiotic therapy based on tylosin, the animal had distinct clinical signs as described for the avian species and, despite of the clinical support and specific therapy, the animal died.
