Abstract

The aim of this study was to report a case of pemphigus foliaceus in a feline that responded satisfactorily to the treatment instituted. A female, mixed-breed feline, approximately 3 years old, was treated at a private veterinary hospital located in the city of Recife (PE). She presented crusted lesions in the regions of the auricle, on the internal and external surfaces, on the nasal plane and temporal regions, in addition to pododermatitis on the 4 limbs and meliceric crusts, onychitis, periungual and palmar edema. After anamnesis, physical examination, cytological examination of the lesions, and parasitological examination, a biopsy of the lesions was requested, arriving at the diagnosis of pemphigus foliaceus. The treatment for patients affected by pemphigus foliaceus is based on the use of immunosuppressive drugs, and in this case, prednisolone (2mg/kg) was used, and cyclosporine was used as an adjuvant. Correct diagnosis, combined with the implementation of targeted therapy, played a crucial role in the clinical improvement of the pati ent in this report.
