Abstract

The food botulism, a severe neuroparalytic disease caused byingestion of neurotoxins found in foods contaminated withthe bacterium Clostridium botulinum, often related to varioustypes of food such as embedded or canned vegetable or animalorigin. In the historical series in Brazil between 1999 and 2008occurred 105 suspected cases of which 39 were confirmed and13 deaths occurred.
