Abstract

Congenital and acquired flexural deformities are seen with some resistance, not being so common in the clinical routine in calves, highlighting the relevance of reporting when this happens. The objective of the present study is to report the case of a heifer with acquired flexural deformity of the left metacarpophalangeal joint of idiopathic origin, which was noted in the physical examination that the animal was unable to move normally and during the extension and flexion examination, observed the rigidity of the left metacarpophalangeal joint. Therefore, we opted for clinical treatment by immobilizing the affected limb with PVC splint and applying an injection of Oxytetracycline, associated with Dexamethasone. After eight days, the splint was retained and the heifer started to support the limb on the ground, moving normally.
