Squamous cell carcinoma in horses: case report

Abstract

The present study aimed to report the case of a 10-year-old pampa-haired mare, Mangalarga, attended at the Veterinary Hospital Vicente Borelli, from the Fundação Fundação Octávio Bastos, presenting a circular and ulcerated lesion in the region of the right semi-membranous muscle the vulva, diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma.The squamous cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma is an increasingly common skin neoplasm in the equine clinical routine, it is a malignant tumor of the keratinocytes that affects depigmented areas of the skin or with hair thinning , due to greater sun exposure. The animal was submitted to treatment with cryotherapy, with remission of the neoplasia, as stated in the histopathological exam.
