Abstract

Oncology, especially in Veterinary Medicine, is a subject not solved and scientific methodology must be applied for the development of prophylactic, diagnostic and therapeutic methods that could provide quick and effective results. Ozone therapy is a minimally invasive procedure and practically free from adverse effects when the correct form of application is respected. The technique has been studied for some time and its immunomodulating, healing, bactericidal and analgesic capacity are already recognized. However, in human and veterinary medicine there are still no concrete indications for its use in cancer patients. This article analyzes biochemical and immunological reactions triggered by ozone that can affect the cancer patient, either directly inhibiting the proliferation of the neoplasm, or indirectly through relief of pain, fatigue and the adverse effects of other treatments.
